Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Bidwell, operated by Hill Street Technologies, Inc. (“Bidwell”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses and shares information when you use the Bidwell mobile app, the Bidwell website and the text messages, emails and documents Bidwell sends to deliver the documents contractors create in it (together, the “Service”).
Bidwell is used by residential contractors (“Contractors”) to create estimates and proposals, send them to their clients (“Homeowners”) for electronic signature, manage change orders and request advances against signed invoices. This policy covers both Contractors and the Homeowners they send documents to.
Information we collect
From Contractors
- Account and profile: your name, email address, sign-in provider, company name, license number, phone number, trade, service area, crew size and company logo.
- Job content: photos, LiDAR room scans, video frames and voice notes you capture for an estimate; the project address; plans you upload; the estimates, proposals and change orders Bidwell creates for you; and your edits to them.
- Pricing and business data: labor rates, suppliers, markup and the contents of bids and invoices you choose to import or let Bidwell read from a connected mailbox (only with your separate, explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings).
- Financing information: if you apply for an advance, the identity information and documents the application asks for and your bank account connection. This information is stored separately, encrypted, and used only to review and fund your advance.
- Device data: a push notification token for your device, and basic diagnostic logs.
From Homeowners
- Contact information: the name, email address and mobile phone number the Contractor enters in order to send you a proposal or change order.
- Signature records: when you view and sign a document, the time, the document version and the electronic-signature record.
How we use information
- To provide the Service: build estimates, render and deliver proposals and change orders, collect electronic signatures, and send the notifications you or your Contractor have asked for.
- To send transactional text messages and emails from Bidwell that deliver a Contractor’s documents (see SMS messaging below).
- To review and fund advances, when a Contractor applies for one.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and comply with law.
- To improve Bidwell’s estimating accuracy, using aggregated or de-identified data.
SMS messaging
Bidwell sends text messages only to a Homeowner who has opted in to receive them from Bidwell, and only when a document is ready for them to review and sign. Each message contains a link to a specific proposal or change order for review and signature. Bidwell does not send marketing or promotional text messages.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent are used solely to deliver the messages you agreed to receive and are shared only with the carriers and messaging providers needed to deliver them.
You can stop receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. See the SMS Terms in our Terms of Service.
How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the Service:
- Between a Contractor and their Homeowner: the documents, signatures and messages that pass between them.
- Service providers who process data for us: cloud hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services, Supabase), AI models that analyze job photos and voice notes (Anthropic), electronic signature (DocuSign), text messaging (Twilio), email delivery, bank account verification (Plaid) and push notifications (Expo). Each receives only what its function requires.
- Legal: when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in a business transfer.
We do not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
We keep account data while your account is active. A Contractor can delete their account in Settings; this removes their profile, job content, documents, connected-mailbox data and device tokens, and withdraws their consents. Signed documents may be retained where required by law. Financing identity data is deleted on the schedule described in your advance agreement.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Financing identity documents are stored in a separate, access-logged, key-managed store. Access to personal data is limited to what the Service needs.
Your choices
- Edit your profile, notification preferences and privacy settings in the app’s Settings.
- Disconnect a connected mailbox at any time in Settings.
- Reply STOP to any text message to opt out of texts.
- Delete your account in Settings, or contact us to request access to or deletion of your data.
Children
Bidwell is for businesses and their adult clients and is not directed to anyone under 18.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date. Contractors are asked to accept material changes in the app.
